Rather than using lengthy filter results, you can incorporate attribute codes and filter keys into the URL, making it simpler to track the source of the search.
URL customization
The SEO-Friendly URL extension in Magento 2 offers a powerful URL customization feature. By enabling the module and selecting Apply for Attributes, store owners can customize URLs for individual product attributes. To apply, navigate to Stores > Attributes > Product > {attribute_name} > SEO friendly URLs in the backend, where attributes can be configured with tailored, keyword-rich URLs for better SEO performance.
Adding aliases
Attribute URL Alias in SEO-Friendly URL for Magento 2 allows users to create an alias URL for product attributes. Instead of using the default attribute name in the URL, this feature helps create SEO-friendly URLs by allowing customization of the URL name to be more understandable and keyword-rich. When the Attribute URL Alias feature is enabled, each product attribute can be assigned an alias.
For example, if you have a product attribute called Color with values like Red, Blue, Green, without using an alias, the product URL might look like this: https://www.example.com/product-category/red-product With Attribute URL Alias, you can replace "red" with an SEO-friendly keyword like "color-red," creating the following URL: https://www.example.com/product-category/color-red-product
Controlling indexing & crawling
The Allow Google to INDEX the Category Page with the Filter Applied feature in the SEO-Friendly URL extension for Magento 2 enables search engines to index category pages with filters applied, such as product attributes or price ranges. This ensures that filtered pages, which might otherwise be overlooked due to dynamic URLs, are indexed with unique, SEO-friendly URLs, improving visibility and search rankings.
By enabling this feature, filtered category pages (e.g., "Size 10 Red Shoes") can be individually indexed by Google, allowing them to rank for specific search queries. This boosts targeted traffic by optimizing various product combinations, ensuring that all potential variations of a category page are visible to search engines for better SEO performance.
No-follow filter links
Store owners can add a rel="nofollow" attribute to the filter links on category pages. This feature is available only when the Mageplaza Layered Navigation Pro module is installed. By setting filter links to no-follow, you can prevent search engines from following these links and potentially passing link equity to filtered pages, which may contain duplicate or low-value content.
This option helps to control the flow of SEO value within the site, ensuring that only important, high-priority pages are indexed and crawled by search engines. It can be particularly useful in avoiding the indexing of unnecessary filtered URLs that could result in content duplication or cannibalization of ranking potential, ultimately improving the overall SEO health of the store.
Add filter key
Our module let store owners customize the URL structure by adding a filter key to the URL.
For example, if you have a filter like climate/allweather, this feature enables you to modify the URL scheme to something more SEO-friendly, such as shopby/allweather.
By adding a filter key, this option makes the URL more descriptive and structured, which can improve search engine optimization by making it clear what the filter represents and helping to organize content more logically.
